Celebrating summer and looking towards fall

Premier Stelmach with Albertans at summer event

A message from Premier Ed Stelmach

As Alberta's dedicated teachers and students head back to the classrooms, I look back on a busy and productive summer, focused on protecting the province’s investments and moving ahead on our priorities. I also look forward to an action-packed fall when we'll make decisions based on input gathered from Albertans. The Royalty Review Panel will deliver its recommendations to ensure Albertans are receiving a fair share from energy development. An expert panel will evaluate if Albertans are getting maximum benefits from the province’s $40 billion in savings and investments, including the Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund.

Students board a school bus

As students and staff start the new year, the provincial government has announced funding for Alberta's schools, allocating $100 million to the four major school boards in Edmonton and Calgary to support school infrastructure modernization projects. Another $97 million will be invested in 17 school infrastructure projects across the province to significantly enhance learning environments for students and staff.

To get ready for school, Alberta Education has everything parents, students and teachers need to know. Parents will find information on how they can support classroom learning at home. Curriculum updates, teaching resources and school year operating schedules will help teachers with their learning plans. Students can find information on everything from career planning to studying for exams.
