Alberta develops Provincial Energy Strategy
A message from Premier Ed Stelmach
Alberta has long been Canada’s ‘energy province.’ With a wealth of energy resources yet to be tapped and a growing global demand, Alberta is committed to developing our resources in an environmentally responsible way, while maintaining our position as a secure and reliable supplier. The recent launch of the Alberta government’s Provincial Energy Strategy confirms Alberta’s role as an energy leader in resource development—now and in the future.
The Provincial Energy Strategy marks an important new era in Alberta’s approach to development. The strategy is yet more proof that Alberta is leading the way in addressing the challenges surrounding, supporting and sustaining the economy while acting as good stewards of the environment.

Eleven Albertans cast for new arts and culture council
A new council has been created to champion arts and culture in our province. The 11-member Premier’s Council on Arts and Culture will provide advice to government and guide the implementation of The Spirit of Alberta – Alberta’s cultural policy.
The policy outlines how culture will be supported through partnerships with the private sector, cultural organizations, agencies, foundations, and individual Albertans. Council members will play a key role in facilitating and maintaining these critical partnerships, as well as acting as liaisons between government and the cultural community.

New continuing care strategy
A new continuing care strategy will improve health and personal care service options for seniors and persons with disabilities by enhancing supports to help them live within the community.
Albertans have said they want to remain in their homes and communities as they age, and the Aging in the Right Place strategy outlines specific community support initiatives to help achieve that goal.
In addition to expanding choice, a key component of this strategy is to increase the supply of affordable supportive living units for low-income seniors and persons with disabilities. Those who qualify for accommodation assistance and no-cost medications will continue to receive those benefits.
