Premier Redford sets priorities for Cabinet and caucus

Premier Alison Redford outlined her expectations of government in serving Albertans so all can reach their full potential.

The government’s plan focuses on three main themes: investing in families and communities, securing Alberta’s economic future, and advancing world-leading resource stewardship. Within these themes, Cabinet and caucus received mandate letters identifying critical areas where special attention, discipline and effort from government are required to drive meaningful change and results. They are:

  • early childhood development;
  • primary health care;
  • education and entrepreneurship;
  • rebalancing the fiscal framework;
  • integrating the resource management system; and
  • expanding market access for Alberta products.

Members of Cabinet and caucus will lead progress on these initiatives, while specific tasks have been identified for associate ministers, including decreasing the incidence of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, implementing the Seniors’ Property Tax Deferral Program and engaging Albertans in a discussion on the future role of the Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund.
